A wise man once said that "if something is worth doing at all, it is worth doing properly". Aptly said.
The Helkama design philosophy means that every product of the Helkama brand must often surprise people in different positive ways. A Helkama bicycle must be exciting and desirable. The bike must cause admiration on the street. For the owners the bicycle must always be a pleasure to use and make them want to go a bit further. Not an easy target, but something good will not come without a struggle.
The will to do things better than usually continues from the design board to the production lines. At the bicycle factory in the southernmost part of Finland, in Hanko, the visitor meets a devoted sight: Many hands working with steel, finishing, painting and working hard on the assembly line in order to produce one more new genuine Helkama bicycle. At the end of 2005, 2.5 million Helkama bicycles had been sent out into the world and the numbers are growing.
With these starting points Helkama has already been working successfully for more than a hundred years. Over the years many of the classical models that Finns love have been created, for example Aino and Oiva, Kaunotar and Kulkuri and of course Jopo, the king of all basic cheerful bikes. However, Helkama is not satisfied with just enjoying the success of the favourite bikes; Helkama continuously develops new top products that the cyclists desire. The magnesium frame design bicycle Helkama 101i that has already been named Europe’s number one bike; the full-blooded electrical bicycle Helkama Jubilee; the stable electrical E-Trike tricycle; and the first bicycle for senior citizens, Senator, which is both durable and beautiful. The sporty Sport hybrids that have been part of the model range already for a couple of years have found their place in many people’s hearts.
Inventing new things is an ongoing process, so if you have any good ideas for developing our products, please tell us about them. It is possible that they will become the next legend within the cycling world.
